Hello dear friends,

My name is Rachael Kungu. Some know me as DJ Rachael, a prominent DJ and producer who’s headlined several festivals in Africa and Europe and co-founded Femme Electronic the women Dj collective that teaches women to Dj and produce music. I was recently diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer, which spread lesions to my brain which numbed the left side of my body.. I cannot do my usual work at all anymore because of what's going on with my health and I stay in bed most times. My brain focus is gone, my vision is quite blurry most times, and my left side became numb and doesn't move well. The doctors put me on steroids to help keep any would-be seizures away and to stop me getting a stroke which seemed evident from the numbness. I was really shocked the day we received the news when we went to the ER and they gave us the Stage 4 cancer verdict / diagnosis. I was rarely sick and recently started feeling really, really fatigued at work and got terrible headaches. My life has suddenly turned upside down in these last 3 months.

I cannot manage to do any meaningful work anymore and my spouse can't work fully either because she has to take care of me, drive me to the hospital, cook, and care for me all the time coz I became almost immobile.

We have a huge monthly bill of items to take care of and a teen boy to look after, and he's become very depressed sad angry and disillusioned since I was diagnosed with Stage 4 Lung Cancer.

We need support with paying rent, our monthly bills, and help buying home stuff for at least a number of months. The good thing the doctors say the disease is treatable and the treatment may gone on for at least more than 6 months. I’ve only just started the treatment in the month of November coz we had a number of issues to sort out before they begun treatment.

My family and I will be truly grateful for all the help and funding extended to us. The campaign has started well with all your drive and pump and we truly appreciate all your efforts towards achieving it. The messages of support are also very empowering! Thank you all so much.!
