Hi, my name is Andre “DJ Dre” Hodges, and I’m asking from the heart: please help support The We In The Basement Community Get Down.

This event started back in 2017 because, growing up, I loved music. It was everything to me. I wanted so badly to go to concerts with my family, but my parents just couldn’t afford it. That stuck with me. So by 8th grade, I became a DJ with a dream to one day perform in a real concert setting for my family and for people like us who didn’t always get the chance.

As I got older, I realized how many families out here are still in that same situation. Single moms. Single dads. Hardworking families just trying to stay afloat. They’re doing their best but still missing out on simple joys like music, fun, and quality time at a concert.

So I decided to change that.

In 2017, I created The Community Get Down, a free concert experience in the parks of Kane County, Illinois for EVERYONE. All races, all ages, all walks of life. One day where people could come together, feel joy, be surrounded by love, and just breathe. That’s what this event is about. That’s what We In The Basement means to me.

And let me be real. It’s been amazing. But it’s also been expensive.

There have been times I went months without paying my mortgage just to make it happen, because I believe in it that much.

This year, I want to dream bigger than ever. My goal is to bring artists like Ginuwine, Sir Mix-A-Lot, Menudo, DJ Farley Jackmaster Funk, DJ Julian “Jumpin” Perez, and a strong lineup of local DJs who deserve the spotlight.

To make it all happen, we’re working to raise $100,000. That covers permits, security, sound, lighting, medical staff, artist fees, and more.

Now I know that sounds like a big number, but hear me out.

"Little money makes big money."

If 100,000 people donated just $1, we’d hit the goal.

If enough people gave $5, $10, or $20, we’d be on our way.

Now do you see why it’s called the Community Get Down?

Because it takes all of us—every single one of us—to keep this dream alive and make it happen year after year.
