Hello everyone,

My name is Bree and I've been walking and sitting Val's dog, Dixie, for two years.

On the night of Val's passing, an officer suggested taking Dixie to animal control. I barely let him finish his sentence. I told him NO and that she was coming with me. Dixie was Val's everything and it simply wasn't an option to send her to a kennel in a strange place when she was already so confused by what happened. That same night, I sent my two dogs to be looked after by family and a friend.

I've been caring for Dixie ever since, just as Val would have. Because I was hired for many sittings over the years, I know all of Dixie's medications, supplements, when to give them, how much she eats, etc. I truly hope Val can see how hard I'm trying to give her girl the best care and all the love.

But costs for caring for another dog add up. Even though I'm experiencing financial hardship, I still want to do my best to cover what I can while Val's family handles the expenses associated with laying her to rest. But I'm also hoping I can turn to you all for some assistance.

I started this GoFundMe to help cover Dixie's expenses while she's in my care and until she finds a new home. I checked with her vet recently, and luckily, she isn't due for her bi-annual checkup until March (because she's a senior) or vaccines until September. But there are definitely other costs, such as: food, three medications, four supplements, and routine grooming appointments (she could use one right now actually). And of course, a security blanket for any emergencies that may come up.

I want to do right by Val and continue Dixie's care exactly how she did it. Any amount that you can give, big or small, is sincerely appreciated.
