Support Displaced JobCorps Students in Pittsburgh
Donation protected
Good Morning!
With a heavy heart, yesterday morning we were told May 30th 2025 that JobCorps will be shutting down June 30th. As a Pittsburgh JobCorps student I will be forced onto the streets with little assistance. Millions of other students are in situations like mine. With no help I am forced to ask the kindness of others to help me find a place to stay. I will be looking for work and shelters while I have time but most are full or I am not eligible.
My heart is breaking for me, family, and friends who are all scrambling to find out where to go. This federal paid program assisted those with a place to stay while we secured a trade, a drivers license, and a high school diploma even would assist in paying for community college. As well as living skills to help people live independently and trips around the city to be involved in the community. I would’ve never had the skills and hope I did if I never joined here. If you cannot donate I strongly recommend contacting your local representative to keep JobCorps running for the young adults who need these resources.
I am asking 7k it’ll help me with rent, bills, and food. Also with fees put on for donations. The housing market is rough having to put down so many fees and having to abruptly start my life over from the bottom.
I thank you all for taking the time to read this, as even if this doesn’t get a lot of donations I am at least spreading awareness to what is happening to millions of people in America who relied on this program and many who called it a home.
