On March 25, 2026, 13 families were forcibly evicted from their homes in the Batan al-Hawa neighborhood of Silwan. Together with two earlier evictions that same week, 15 families—around 80 people—have now been displaced to make way for Jewish settlers in the densely populated Palestinian community.
In the past two years, the Israeli government and Jerusalem Municipality, working hand-in-hand with settler organizations, have intensified their efforts to Judaize these neighborhoods and uproot their Palestinian residents. The expulsion of Silwan residents from their homes is based on discriminatory policies that violate the laws of occupation enshrined in international law. It continues a policy of ethnic cleansing led by the Israeli government.
Currently, almost 2,000 additional Palestinians are under imminent threat of displacement in Silwan due to settler-initiated actions to seize their land and property.
If all families under threat are displaced, this would mark the most extensive displacement and takeover of a Palestinian neighborhood in East Jerusalem since 1967.
For the individuals directly affected, the consequences are immediate and severe. Displacement brings overwhelming financial strain. Families face the urgent need to secure housing in a city where decades of discriminatory planning has created a severe shortage of affordable homes for Palestinians.
Despite this, many are determined to remain in Jerusalem. Leaving often means losing residency status, potentially permanently. This is a reality facing nearly half a million Palestinian Jerusalemites within the city who lack full civil rights or secure, inheritable status.
Your support is urgently needed.
Every contribution—no matter the size—helps Jerusalemites retain their rights to live in their hometown, secure safe housing, and meet their basic needs in this moment of deep injustice and crisis. Please donate today and stand with these families in their fight to remain in their city.
We are a network of Israeli and international activists working to stand with these families in co-resistance to apartheid, Jewish supremacy, and ongoing land theft.
All funds raised as part of this campaign will be used to cover legal costs, shelter, basic necessities, and more. These resources support families as they remain steadfast in their resolve to maintain a life of dignity in their rightful communities.
