Support Disabled Veteran Bill Burritt's Driveway Repair
Donation protected
Hello friends and neighbors. I have started a GoFundMe to help our neighbor, Bill Burritt, rebuild his driveway after the devastating flash floods on August 18, 2024. Bill's nearly 1100-foot driveway in Beacon Falls, situated along the side of Naugatuck State Forest and Naugatuck reservoirs, was almost completely washed away during the flash flood. There are some gullies which have washed out to 7 feet deep. His driveway is impassable at the moment and will require substantial repairs and work estimated at $20,000 right now. The entire length of the driveway is destroyed and has washed away to Pent Road.
Sadly, Bill recently spent over $6000 after a similar issue with heavy rains in December of 2023 and had multiple new drainage culverts installed which were overwhelmed and blocked by large rocks and boulders and a massive flow of water from the reservoirs above. I have been bringing food and drinks up the side of the mountain for him since this happened and am asking our community to help Bill out.
Bill is struggling physically and unable to perform this massive project on his own. Bill is a disabled American Veteran (Navy) and member of Beacon Hose Co. #1 and is a very recent widower. Bill's beloved wife Ruth was also the primary source of income for them and while he will survive and rebuild, the finances for this are tight. There are many fundraising efforts at this time for many families more severely affected by this disaster, but no amount is too small if you can contribute. All contributions will go directly to fixing his driveway and getting access to his home, in which he is presently stuck in with no way to get out.
