The Dioxin Education Committee (DEC) is a local group dedicated to preventing the development of biomass and bio-energy projects in Oroville and throughout Butte County. Industrial biomass developments pose significant threats to our regional air quality, local environment, and overall community health. DEC’s mission is to inform, empower, and organize residents to stop these projects from taking root in our region.
Every donation directly funds DEC’s operations to block proposed biomass facilities and protect our area. This includes public education and community outreach—raising awareness about the risks of biomass development, maintaining dioxineducation.org, and distributing educational resources to residents. DEC also tracks Oroville City Council, Planning Commission, and County agendas, reviews environmental impact reports, and monitors developer proposals. Legal and policy advocacy is another key focus, with the committee submitting formal public comments, presenting community concerns at public hearings, and ensuring local decision-makers hear a clear, unified voice opposing biomass projects.
Help support the Dioxin Education Committee in defending our air and environment. Your contribution keeps the community informed, vigilant, and active in protecting Oroville and Butte County. Thank you for standing with us.
