Support Dion's Critical Recovery Journey
Donation protected
Our son, Dion, was in a horrible motorcycle accident on June 24th. He was life starred to a trauma unit. Dion is currently in critical condition and the next 72 hours are crucial. He has suffered many injuries. He has broken ribs, broken clavicle, many facial fractures, skull fracture with brain injuries. He is currently sedated with a breathing tube and tubes in both of his lungs. Dion is strong and i know he is going to come out of this!!!! He is going to have a super long recovery with surgeries. If you know Dion you know the love of his life is his daughter! I’m asking if we all could help in this time. We are still uncertain of his condition and future medical plans but we do know he will be out of the work for a long time. I’m trying to help with his normal bills like his mortgage, car payment etc and whatever medical bills will occur. Please pass this along. I will give updates every few days on how he is. Please be safe if your on a motorcycle, his helmet saved his life, but didn’t protect him like i thought. Thank you!
UPDATE 6/25 8:00pm
I got MRI results. He has blood in his c7 area of his spine that may be causing his right arm to not respond. When the blood and swelling goes away then hopefully that will be better. He also have fractures of his lower spine in the T8-T10. Not sure if he will need surgery or not for that yet. They are doing another MRI specifically for the spine to further evaluate. She said it was a good sign he’s been moving his legs. She also said he has bilateral fractures in his face.
UPDATE 6/27 1:30pm
Dion is still critical and on life support but he is stable! Doctors are happy with his progress. He is heavily sedated for his own safety. Yesterday when he was on a lighter sedation he did get agitated and fought to pull his breathing tube out. That caused some issues but they are under control now. He did fight like hell and even mumbled to them to “get off of me, i can’t breathe”. So that is a good sign that he is somewhat aware. Each day they will slowly wean him off the sedation and ventilator. As of right now the orthopedic team is not planning any surgeries. That may change but as of now they are happy with his fractures healing on their own.
Corey and I , along with the rest of our families want to thank all of you for your help! You guys are truly amazing! Just keep thinking positive for us!
6/29 12:12pm Update….he is still sedated on life support. But he is stable. He is having an issue with his right lung with breathing because of so many broken ribs. Trauma team is evaluating if they need to go in and plate some of those ribs to help him breath. He now has what looks like a boxing glove on because he keeps trying to pull the tube out when they lower his sedation. They say he is super strong when he gets agitated. I did see him open his eyes quickly. He is responding when they tell him to wiggle his toes and stuff like that. He responded to me by nodding yes a couple times. We are still not out of the clear but overall he is stable.
UPDATE 7/2/25 1:16pm I GOT TO SEE MY BABIES EYES!!!!!! Although he is still on the ventilator he is breathing more on his own. He is still sedated but not as heavy as before. He does open his eyes but I’m not sure how aware he is at the moment. He is moving around a little too. Does get agitated but that’s expected. Just keep praying!!!!! Baby steps in the right direction!
UPDATE July 7th 7:20pm-HE IS OFF THE VENTILATOR!!! NO MORE LIFE SUPPORT! This is a huge step in the right direction! Keep praying!
UPDATE July 10th 9:23pm Dion is out of ICU. He got the tubes taken out of his nose and was cleared to eat! Boy he was happy about that! His voice is coming back. They are reducing medications too. Today we spent the day just talking and he even got to FaceTime his little girl. It was a really good day. Now to get his strength back to walk!!! Still a long road but we are on the right path. Again thank you to everyone who donated, shared and prayed! ❤️
UPDATE 7/15 Dion was discharged from the hospital yesterday!! He still has a long road of appointments and specialist ahead of him. Considering he almost didn’t make it to being home in 3 weeks is a miracle!!!! He has a great support system that will help staying with him.
Thank you again, without you all i don’t know if any of us would have gotten through this!
