My name is Dina Taji im from oOrlando , Florida , and for the past 20 years, I’ve been rescuing the voiceless—cats discarded, paralyzed, blinded, and abandoned in some of the harshest conditions across the UAE. I run a cat sanctuary in Dubai called Dubai Street Kitties, where over 350 rescued cats now live, many of whom were dumped by breeders or pet owners who simply left the country and left their animals behind.

Most of these cats were found barely clinging to life—left outside the infamous animal market in Sharjah, where cruelty hides in plain sight. I visit almost every week, heartbroken and determined, choosing the ones suffering the most. We clean them, treat them, comfort them, and give them a second chance.

But right now, we are at a breaking point.

We are drowning in over $100,000 in veterinary bills. We have:

• 50 cats undergoing costly FIP treatment, a life-saving medication we fight to afford every month.

• Cats battling renal failure, liver disease, and neurological issues that require constant vet visits.

• Paralyzed cats, blind cats, and cats who have survived brutal abuse and now need long-term care.

• Over 2,000 cats TNR’d this year alone, to prevent even more from suffering on the streets.

We receive no government support. There is no public shelter system here. We rely entirely on donations, our own savings, and the kindness of strangers who believe that no animal deserves to be thrown away like garbage.
