Hello everyone. We, the Canlas Family, are reaching out on behalf of our dear cousin, Dina Chavez.
Dina is an amazing mother to her 2 kids Jas and CJ, and loving wife to her husband Jowen. She is an outstanding shared services executive and consultant who has worked at firms such as Accenture, Mondelez, and IBM. Her recent role brought her to work as Director for an international communications infrastructure firm in Dubai.
Dina and her family have fallen into challenging times unfortunately. She has been sole provider since 2018, when Jowen developed kidney issues and, to this day, needs regular dialysis. Her recent position in Dubai provided excellent medical coverage and she was able to bring the family over. Jowen’s dialysis was also covered so they were in a good state at the time.
Things started falling apart in 2021, when Dina caught Covid and became critically ill. It took several months to recover, but other complications arose from that. Having type-1 diabetes also presented other issues. She has been in and out of the hospital since then.
In November 2023, things got worse as she developed lung infection. While being treated for this, she developed edema and now has limited vision. Clearly unable to work due to these medical conditions, she had lost her job and with that, her medical insurance, so everything is now out of pocket. Her husband Jowen and her son returned to the Philippines so Jowen could continue getting dialysis where is it not as expensive as in Dubai. Dina and her daughter remained in Dubai as she had hoped to recover quickly and go back to work.
This past week, Dina was rushed to the hospital for kidney failure, with lung and blood infection. She remains at the Iranian Hospital in Dubai for continuous treatment, and is unsure how long she will need to stay admitted. Her kidneys have failed and needs immediate surgery for a dialysis catheter. She will require regular dialysis after that. They have exhausted all their savings, and have been relying on family to assist but that is also limited.
We are hoping you might consider joining us in helping Dina and her family as they go through this terrible time. Medical treatment in Dubai is quite expensive but as she is critically ill and condition unstable, she is unable to travel back to the Philippines to be with her husband and son, and where medical expenses could be more manageable. The monies raised will go toward the next surgeries needed, hospital expenses, dialysis and medicines, her husband's continued dialysis, and some living expenses as they have no income coming in.
Inspite of all this, Dina remains positive and confident she will survive this so she can go back to work and take care of her family. It is our hope that she will be able to recover in the coming months so they can all be back together again.
We appreciate your reading our appeal to help us get Dina through this.
Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts.
The Canlas Family
