Help Dimitra Rebuild After the Loss of Her Husband of 34 Years
Six months ago, our family experienced an unimaginable loss. My sister, Dimitra, lost her beloved husband, Niko, after 34 years of marriage. For almost four decades, they built a life together — a home filled with love, partnership, shared dreams, and unwavering commitment.
Niko was more than a husband and father. He was a familiar and cherished face in the Park Ridge community, where he worked as a hairstylist for over 25 years (Spadida) . His clients were not just appointments on a calendar — they were long-term relationships and friendships. They loved him, and he loved them right back. Through countless conversations, milestones, and everyday moments shared in his chair, Niko became part of so many lives. His warmth, smile, humor, and kindness left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.
At home, he was the sole financial provider for his family. His passing has left not only a profound emotional void, but also an overwhelming financial burden.
Today, Dimitra is navigating life without the man she has stood beside for most of her adult life. She is grieving while also facing the full responsibility of maintaining their home and covering everyday expenses.
The reality is that everything now falls on her shoulders:
• Mortgage/rent and household bills
• Insurance and medical expenses
• Daily living costs
Including building her esthetics business so that she and her son have future stability .
After 38 years of partnership, adjusting to life alone is incredibly difficult. Your support will help provide stability during this transition — allowing her to focus on healing and supporting her son rather than worrying about how to keep everything afloat.
We are asking for any contribution, to help ease this burden. If you are unable to donate, sharing this page with others would mean so much to our family — especially to those in the Park Ridge community and surrounding areas whose lives Niko touched over the years.
Most of all, we ask for your prayers, love, and encouragement as Dimitra works to rebuild her life one day at a time.
Thank you for your compassion and generosity.
With gratitude,
