My name is Diego Olivares! I'm a senior majoring in filmmaking at Hofstra University.

I'm currently seeking funding for my senior thesis film, "Sweet Daddy Divine"!

Synopsis:

"Jed returns to his southern hometown for Thanksgiving and is shocked to find his family and community in the thrall of a charismatic preacher named Sweet Daddy Divine. After seeing firsthand the supernatural influence of Sweet Daddy Divine on his congregation, Jed investigates only to be caught off guard when Sweet Daddy Divine arrives at his house for Thanksgiving."

This is a very important story to me. I believe the role of the church in the Black community needs to be seriously re-examined. A well-known stereotype of a wealthy preacher who exploits vulnerable people is based on an all-too-real phenomenon. This satire is a way of examining the role of religious leaders in the Black community and some of the issues that seem to come up in every community and every family.

The question should be asked: How do we, as Africans, make peace with a religion introduced to us via whips and chains?

Our goal is $5K to $10K!

$5K is the minimum we need, but we can do so much more with more money!

Funding will go to vital production costs, such as craft services, transportation costs, actor compensation, equipment rental, and more!
