Support Diego's Journey to a New Chapter

It’s wild how you can become so attached to a space. 38 John Street has been our home for 10 years. The experiences that we’ve had in this space are innumerable. Moments and memories of a lifetime. We’ve witnessed first dates grow into families of five. Celebrated 10 years of birthdays. We’ve devastatingly lost loved ones, businesses, and friends, and mourned in that space.

The space was a constant, it was our backbone. It’s hard to even truly acknowledge what we’ve been able to accomplish in these walls; worked alongside and grew with some amazing people, hosted milestone events, created a second location from our hearts. Even survived a pandemic. We can’t take the walls with us, but we’re taking the spirit. Taking all of our friendship moments with us. We’re taking all of you with us.

Like so many, the pandemic served us a hard blow that we we’ve been struggling to recover from since. Call it stubborn, call it passion, call it stupid, we held on for as long as we could. But with costs and general overhead doubling and even tripling in some instances over the last few years, we have reached a point where the decision has been made for us. We are working on determining what our last day of service can be and will announce it soon.

But this isn’t goodbye. We’ll be vending at multiple events this summer (at @Opus40 and more) so stay tuned to our socials (@diegoskingston & diegostaqueria.com) for updates on where you can find us. We still have some dates available for private & catering events, so Diego’s will even come to you. Send your requests through the catering tab on our website.

CALL TO ACTION:

Many of you have asked how you can help. We will need hands to carry things, vehicles to move them, and shoulders to cry on. And if we’re being honest, we will need financial support to get us to the next steps; we are working with other local business owners on potential location partnerships, but in the meantime we are hoping to secure a **food truck or trailer** to help us stay mobile so you can find Diego’s around the valley. At the request of quite a few customers and community members, we are humbly creating a go fund me page for those who are in a position to help financially. You can find the link in our bio.

Thank you, all of you. For your company, your kind words, your friendship. Thank you for being a part of one of our dreams and loving it the same way that we have. Please stop in, take a picture, tell a story, tell your friends. It’s time to close this chapter and start a new one.

Thank you to 10 years of team members, without whom none of this would have been possible. We love you all.  And thank you especially, to our family and friends, whose support in all ways has truly been our lifeline.

What a amazing ride, thanks for being on it with us.

See you on the next one. Peace, love, and tacos. Always.
