Hi, my name is Kevin Kees and I’m writing this for a long time family friend, Richard “Dick” Hicks, and his wife Sharon Hicks to help garner financial support for Dick after recently being diagnosed with a Glioblastoma brain tumor. To say that their world has been turned upside-down is an understatement. On February 1st, 2026 while at home after having dinner with Sharon, Dick began to have stroke-like symptoms and was rushed to the hospital via ambulance. Testing and imaging that night in the ER did not show any signs of a stroke, thankfully, but an MRI done the next morning showed a tumor on Dick’s brain behind his left ear, about an inch in length. 4 days later Dick had brain surgery to remove the tumor, which went extremely well, and it was sent off for pathology. Unfortunately the news from pathology was devastating, a Glioblastoma brain tumor, one of the most aggressive and deadly forms of cancer to have. Dick and his family are in for the fight of their lives, especially as senior citizens. The current plan is to attack the tumor Very aggressively with Chemo and Radiation. Dick has already started his initial treatment getting radiation and chemotherapy 5 days a week for 6 straight weeks. Their income is very limited as senior citizens, and while Dick was working prior to the cancer diagnosis he will not be able to work for the foreseeable future if ever again, and Sharon will be his primary care taker and will not be able to work either. The financial strain from medical costs and from just everyday living expenses has already begun to take its toll. They will be forced to move from their home soon due to the increase of medical expenses for his care and treatment. Dick and Sharon are in for the fight of their lives!
Dick Hicks played baseball as a pitcher for the LSU TIGERS during the 1967-68 seasons and was a standout on the mound leading the team in wins, strikeouts, and innings pitched in the ’68 season before being drafted by the Houston Astros while at LSU in 1968. He was named to the “Foundation Era” (1938-83) All Alex Box Stadium Team, representing the best players from that period. He still VIGOROUSLY supports his Tiger baseball team!
Dick & Sharon are Good people and first and foremost they are asking for as many Prayers as possible from as many people as possible to help Dick beat this dreaded cancer. In their prayers they are asking God for his healing hand to preform a medical miracle and heal Dick from his Glioblastoma brain cancer. Financial support of any amount would help Dick and his family with the enormous costs of his long and ongoing cancer treatments, and their day to day living expenses for the foreseeable future. The help you can provide with donations of any amount, and or prayers will be greatly appreciated more than you could know!
