Hello friends, I hope all of your families stayed safe during the recent hurricane Helene.
Unfortunately it was a very tragic event for my oldest sister, Diane Mullaney. She lived, with her cat Kisa, in a mobile home in the small community of Edgewater Pines in Seminole, FL. The back portion of the park is bordered by a small bayou that either had storm surge from the gulf or a dam that broke. About 1/3 of the homes were severly damaged. While the majority of the residents are "snow birds" and are only there part of the year, my sister was a full time resident. Sadly she has lost just about everything. Most tragically, we suspect she will not be able to salvage her home. We are working with her flood insurance, but as one would expect, it is a slow process. And, assuming that comes through, it will not cover all of her losses.
The main reason Diane moved to FL from PA about 5-6 years ago was so she could be near our parents. They live about 1 mile from her in an assisted living facility. Diane helps with their care. In addition she is actively involved in many local organizations including the VFW, American Legion, Moose and Elks. She has always been a "giver" and now, unfortunately she has nothing left to give.
If you are able, any contribution would be greatly appreciated. Diane is currently staying with a friend, but we suspect she will never be able to return to her home, so we need to find and fund some long term solutions.
Thank you so much for your consideration.
