Support Diane's Journey to Recovery

Donation protected
I'm creating this GoFundMe for my dear friend and coworker, Diane.

Diane moved here from Colorado a little over a year ago, not only to rebuild her life for deeply personal reasons, but also to be closer to her grandson—a part of her heart and anchor. Without oversharing her private journey, I’ll just say this: her decision to start over was brave. She packed up everything she owned and stepped into the unknown, fueled by hope and faith that she could find a fresh start, secure a job, and build a new home. Everything was moving along just fine to start - she found a home, started a new job mid-June, but shortly after settling in, Diane was faced with a serious and unexpected health challenge. She had to undergo a vitrectomy with retinal detachment repair in her right eye on October 4 — an intense and delicate surgery. Over the last 10 months, she has been healing, only to learn just recently that the surgery was not successful. She now faces a 2nd vitrectomy surgery, followed by cataract surgery she can’t have until her retina is in the clear.

This journey hasn’t just taken a toll on her physically—it’s affected her emotionally, financially, and mentally. She’s endured chronic headaches, impaired vision, disorientation, and the understandable emotional strain that comes with it. And yet—through every setback—Diane has continued to show up. She comes to work with a smile, gives her best, and radiates positivity, even on the days when it’s clear she’s in pain.

Sadly, Diane needs to take additional time off to undergo this second surgery attempt and properly recover. Unfortunately, she doesn't have enough leave saved to receive pay during this time. While she does have insurance, it doesn’t cover everything, and the prospect of missing a paycheck—or even two—could set her back just as she was starting to find her footing.

There are countless GoFundMe campaigns out there, each with their own worthy cause. This one is simply about kindness. It’s about lightening the load for someone who has carried so much with grace. It’s about showing Diane that she’s not alone, that compassion is still alive and well in the world, and that she is so deeply deserving of support.

If you feel moved to help—even in a small way—your gift would mean more than words can say. Every dollar raised will go toward easing Diane’s burden and helping her heal in peace and dignity.

From the bottom of my heart—thank you. ❤️
