Hello
My name is Chris and I am writing to tell of my Mother (Diane) and her journey/battle with colon cancer.
For all of you who know my Mother and for those of you who don't, she is one of the kindest and most giving people I know and I'm lucky enough to call her Mom.
She was diagnosed with Colon Cancer last month, which was a hard hit to the family but luckily they caught it early at stage 1. She will be going in for surgery next month on Sept. 23rd to remove part of her colon and reconnect it. This requires up to 1 week in the hospital post op and 8 weeks at home recovery time with absolutely no work or strenuous activity.
She is 64 and has been self employed for the past 25 years. Her and my stepfather are both self employed and don't have the blessings that a lot of us have with vacation, sick time, retirement, etc.
You simply work or you don't get paid.
She has been losing weight and is already feeling the effects of the cancer. I have been working over time and giving what I can to help ease the frustration and anxiety of finances so she can rest on the days she doesn't know how she can make it to work. I promise anyone reading this, I am working extra and selling things that no longer serve us to get her the support that she deserves, but I am getting close to exhausting what help I can give financially.
My Mother is a God fearing Woman who has always dropped whatever she's doing to be there for anyone that needs a helping hand and never asked for anything in return.
For all of you that know her, you know this is 100% true.
My best friend suggested I make this page and throw it out to the community, so here I am sharing my Families journey right now.
Whatever support can be given, if nothing else, it will show my Mother (Diane) that she is not in this fight alone and she is Loved and supported beyond what she knew.
Thank you
Chris McInnis
