Support Diane and Jim's Cancer Battle

Dear family, friends, and kind-hearted strangers,
My name is Jen, and I am the daughter of Diane and Jim Dorland. I'm writing with a heavy heart today. In October 2024, both of my parents were diagnosed with cancer. My mom has been diagnosed with stage 3 rectal cancer and my dad has been diagnosed with stage 3 prostate cancer. This news has been devastating, and we are determined to do everything we can to support them through this journey. The weight of one parent facing the diagnosis of cancer is tremendous, but to have both parents endure this battle is beyond words. Not only do they have to face their own treatments and medical challenges, but they have to find the strength to support each other.

For those who may not know, my parents were high school sweethearts and have been married for 39 years. They have four children and seven beautiful grandchildren. No matter what, their strength and love have always been a guiding force in our family. They have been through difficult times, but have found the strength to get through them together. In 2020, my mom was diagnosed with Breast Cancer during the pandemic. She had to attend medical appointments, radiation, chemotherapy, and surgery by herself because of the strict regulations that healthcare providers had with COVID-19. With all of these difficult restrictions, my mom still found the strength to fight as hard as she could and beat breast cancer! Even though she beat breast cancer, she still struggles with health problems due to all of the strain the radiation and chemotherapy put on her body.

The road ahead will include numerous medical appointments, testing, radiation, chemotherapy, and surgery, all of which come with significant medical expenses. While my parents face this battle with incredible strength and courage, the financial burden is overwhelming. My mom has been a professional hairdresser for 43 years. We know my mom's treatments will put even more strain on her body, resulting in days off of work. Time away from her so beloved career will cause a financial burden. We hope to relieve some of this financial stress so they can focus on their health, well-being, and recovery.

We are setting up this GoFundMe to help cover medical bills, treatment costs, and other expenses that arise during this difficult journey. Any contribution, big or small, will make a significant difference and will be deeply appreciated. Even if you can't donate, sharing this campaign can make a huge difference. We do ask everyone to keep Diane and Jim in your thoughts and prayers.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your kindness and support.
