Diana Joan Kliewer, my oldest sister, has always lived a life full of family, friends, and service. She’s spent years volunteering with Kern Medical Center and Hospice agencies, guided by her Christian faith and a deep commitment to helping others. Now 74 and retired at 72, Diana enjoys the community at Solstice Independent Living in SW Bakersfield, where she’s built a new chapter surrounded by support and friendship.
This past summer, Diana faced a tough crossroads. After visits to the dentist and eye doctor, we learned she needed both cataract surgery and significant dental work. The cost of dental care—deep cleanings, crowns, and bridges—was more than we could manage, so we made the difficult decision to prioritize her vision. Her cataract surgeries are scheduled for January 2026. Anything we’re able to raise beyond what’s needed for her vision will allow Diana to finally address her much-needed dental treatments and services.
I’ve always told my students that it’s brave to ask for support, and now I find myself in that position. Along with our sister Carolyn, I’m doing everything I can to help Diana maintain a vibrant, healthy retirement. I wish I could simply write a check to cover all her needs, but that’s not possible. So I’m reaching out to our community—friends, family, and kind-hearted neighbors—for help. Please join me in supporting Diana. Your generosity will help her regain her vision, restore her health, and continue living the full, joyful life she deserves. Thank you for considering a gift to Diana’s GoFundMe.
