Within months of losing everything in a house fire, Diana was diagnosed with Stage 3C colon cancer and underwent multiple emergency surgeries. Nearly two years later, she is still fighting to heal while raising her young son and facing overwhelming medical expenses, with an upcoming surgery on May 13, 2026.
In February 2024, Diana’s home was destroyed in a fire, and she and her young son, Jacob, lost nearly everything. Just three months later, she was taken to the ER after she was unable to stop vomiting. Alone in the middle of the night, the doctor told her the CT scan showed a mass in her colon. She was immediately admitted with a bowel obstruction and underwent emergency open abdominal surgery.
She was diagnosed with Stage 3C colon cancer.
Days after being discharged, she returned to the hospital with a life-threatening intra-abdominal infection caused by a leak in her colon. She underwent a second emergency surgery and had to adjust to life with an ileostomy.
In just 11 days, Diana endured two major surgeries, a cancer diagnosis, and 17 nights in the hospital—separated from her son.
The challenges didn’t stop there.
She developed severe complications, including fluid buildup around her lungs requiring a procedure to remove over 2.5 pounds of fluid affecting her breathing and heart function.
In January 2025, she underwent a third major surgery to reverse her ileostomy and remove a mass that had grown into her spleen. Thankfully, it was not cancer, but a large abscess from a prior infection.
In November 2025, she faced a fourth surgery to repair a painful hernia. Today, she continues to deal with ongoing complications from four abdominal surgeries and intensive treatments.
And still—she keeps going.
As a single mother, Diana is carrying the weight of healing while creating stability and normalcy for her son. She attends appointments, scans, and treatments alone, focused on making sure her son is cared for no matter what she is facing.
Now, she needs support.
Diana will be having another surgery on May 13, 2026, and it is not covered by insurance. A recent head CT revealed a thyroid nodule covering her left lobe and another growth in her left sinus cavity. She needs this surgery to address the growing nodule on her thyroid that is partially obstructing her airway and interfering with swallowing, causing pain and panic.
Between multiple surgeries, extended hospital stays, ongoing care, and mounting medical bills, the financial burden has become overwhelming. This support will go toward her upcoming surgery, medical debt, continued treatment, and the care she needs to fully heal.
More than anything, it will give Diana the ability to focus on her recovery and her son—without carrying this alone.
Diana is like a sister to me, and there was a time when we did not know if she was going to make it. She is one of the strongest people I know—making life as normal as possible for her son and not allowing her daily pain and fear to interfere with that. If you feel moved to help—whether by giving, sharing, or praying—it would mean more than words can express.
From Diana’s Depth Psychology Practitioner:
I have had the privilege of walking alongside Diana through much of this chapter of her life, and I can say without hesitation that she is one of the most resilient, determined, and devoted mothers I have ever known.
What people may not fully see from the outside is how hard she has fought—not only to heal physically, but to stay emotionally present for her son in the midst of immense pain, fear, and uncertainty. She has faced repeated medical crises, single motherhood, and enormous stress with extraordinary courage and commitment.
Diana is deeply engaged in her healing, fiercely committed to her son, and doing everything she can to rebuild her life with integrity. Support for Diana is not simply helping her survive a difficult season—it is helping a woman who is actively fighting for her life, her healing, and her son's future.
