Hello, my name is Sheryl. I'm typing this request with sadness. My husband Dewayne was schedule to have a ct scan on Monday November 10th. Before the scan he had blood work done. Was immediately admitted to the ER. He was in kidney failure. He was then rushed to another hospital, that was more prepared to help my husband. Once we got there, all kinds of imaging, blood work was performed. Results came back that his kidneys were failing and that he had stage 3 bladder cancer. Due to the bladder cancer, the doctor tried 3x's to put stents in both ureters, so that the toxins can get through to the bladder. The lining of the bladder was so thick and hard, They were unsuccessful the first 2 procedures. Through this process, Dewaynes kidneys were being flushed constantly. Over the weekend the doctors gave his body time to calm down. Monday, a 3rd attempt the doctor was able to get a stent in the right kidney, but not the left. Then Dewayne came home, with a tube and a bag coming out of the left kidney.
Monday, we start a new journey. We will contact the Urologist to get schedule for surgery to remove his bladder, possibly his prostate and do a biospy on the left kidney that is not working. Imaging showed he has a spot on that kidney. From there, we start chemotherapy and radiation.
My husband and I are retired. Dewayne has a one man business. Makes just enough to meet our needs. Now, unforunately things will be getting harder on us, because of all the medical expenses. He has his portion to meet, before things are paid at 100%. Then begining of January, we start over again, having to pay our deductible and out of pocket. Dewayne will not be able to work again. He will be considered 100% disable.
Dewayne is a good man, a hard working man and a great husband of 34 years and more importantly a man of faith! He's my best friend, my partner, my EVERYTHING and it pains me deeply to see him go through this horrible disease, that the doctors say is uncureable. The news of it not being cureable, was devasting and it was the last thing Dewayne and I wanted to hear. But here we are, unfortunately!
I am asking for your help, through this difficult journey. And I personally want to thank you all who helps us through this. It's your kindness, thoughts, prayers and donations, that will keep us strong through this long process.
GOD bless you ALL!!
In Christ love
