Devin's Journey with Superficial Siderosis Documentary
Donation protected
Hey guys! My name is Trevor Jaureguy, and I’m fundraising for my senior thesis project! This semester is my final semester at Biola University, and I’m doing a documentary on my best friend Devin Dobroth’s journey living and trying to fight with his diagnosis of a degenerative brain disease called superficial siderosis (SS). He was diagnosed at the age of 16. SS is a condition consisting of hemosiderin deposition in the outer layer of the brain that causes debilitating headaches and other neurological issues. It’s basically a disabling degenerative disorder of the brain and spinal cord that caused by long-term bleeding. The reason why I chose this to be my final project is because I believe that this rare disease isn’t talked about. So I want to tell Devin’s story alongside telling the story of him training for a half marathon with this illness and how he perseveres through life with it alongside his family talking about the struggles of him growing up with it.
The reason I’m making this GoFundMe is it will take a lot of traveling to finish the end. Devin lives out of state with his wife who is in the military so traveling back and forth to shoot the content and be able to be there to film the half marathon will cost us a lot of traveling fees such as flight and gas. I would greatly appreciate any donations towards this project which will be my final project at Biola University before I graduate. Thank you guys for all the help and donations. I’m excited to tell Devin’s story and educate everyone on SS.
