With Deepest Love and Heartbreak — Rest Easy, Andrew
It is with the heaviest hearts that we share that our beloved Andrew Woods has left this world and is now at peace — no longer in pain, no longer fighting, and finally reunited with his best friend, Dad, for a long-awaited fishing trip in heaven.
Andrew fought cancer with everything he had — with strength, faith, and courage that left us in awe. Since his diagnosis with stage 4 lung cancer, he never stopped showing up for his treatments, for his loved ones, and for himself. Through every scan, proton therapy session, chemo round, ER visit, and terrifying setback, he fought with the soul of a warrior and the heart of a servant.
His journey over these past months was incredibly difficult, especially as his immune system battled infections, pneumonia, and complications that required intensive care. But still — he never gave up. He showed up with bravery, humility, and the same selfless love he gave to others his whole life.
Andrew wasn’t just a detective or a volunteer firefighter. He was the rock of our family, the one we all turned to. A quiet hero. A protector. A man who gave everything to his community and to the people he loved. He lived a life of purpose, filled with service, strength, and compassion — and now he has laid down the fight and found peace in God’s arms.
“Well done, good and faithful servant… Enter into the joy of your Lord.”
— Matthew 25:23
Though we are broken and grieving, we are also grateful — for the time we had, for the love we shared, and for the overwhelming support and prayers that have carried us through this journey. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you.
We’d also like to thank Leatherwood Baptist Church, where Andrew found spiritual peace and strength. We are especially grateful to Pastor Kevin Brantley and Pastor Tim Sharp, who not only walked beside Andrew and Faith, but also had the honor of baptizing him. Their friendship and guidance meant so much to him and to our entire family.
Please continue to lift our family in prayer as we begin to navigate life without him. And when you think of Andrew, we hope you’ll picture him somewhere quiet, peaceful, casting a line alongside Dad, with the sun on his face and no more pain.
Forever #AndrewStrong.
Thank you to everyone that has loved on and supported Andrew throughout this terrible time. The unused funds that were raised will be donated, in Andrew’s honor, to the Sharps Chapel Fire Department and his Church.
