Hi everyone, my name is Destinee Phifer, and I am a Senior Business Technology Administration and Psychology major at UMBC.

I'm reaching out because I have been given an incredible, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to study abroad in Panama for 2 weeks starting this winter in January.

This isn't just a trip; it's a vital part of my academic journey. In Panama, I will be focusing on doing an independent research study. This experience will directly provide me hands-on research, open new doors, and help me decide what to do with my career post-grad. This is a once-in-a-lifetime experience that I cannot get in a traditional classroom setting.

The Challenge

While the educational value is indescribable, the cost of the program, travel, and living expenses is a financial hurdle. The total cost is around $3,000, and my personal savings and scholarships cover only a portion of this.
