On January 21st, my life pauses so my heart can keep going.
I will be undergoing open-heart surgery to repair my aortic valve, and my doctors are planning to perform a Ross procedure—a highly specialized surgery where my own pulmonary valve will replace my damaged aortic valve, and a donor valve will take its place.
This decision wasn’t made lightly. It came after months of appointments, tests, and conversations about what would give me the best chance at a long, healthy future. While I trust my medical team completely, the reality of open-heart surgery is both physically and emotionally overwhelming.
Recovery will take time, strength, and support. If you’re able to help in any way, no mater if its donating, sharing, or keeping me in your thoughts. I am deeply grateful. I’m focusing on healing, hope, and getting back to living fully.
Love,
Desi
