Our Story
Hi everyone, my name is Desiree. I live in California now, but I was born and raised in the Philippines.
Since I was a child, my mom has been my best friend and my hero. She protected me from an abusive father and taught me strength, compassion, and resilience. I promised myself that one day I would give her the peaceful, comfortable life she always deserved.
When I graduated high school at 16, I became the provider for my family — determined to take over the responsibility my father abandoned.

The Dream I Worked For
After six years of working and saving in the U.S., I finally fulfilled my dream last year — I built my mom a home in Cebu.
It was simple, but it was ours — a symbol of love, sacrifice, and a lifetime of prayers answered.
For the first time, I felt peace knowing she was safe and comfortable.

Then Disaster Struck — Twice
On September 30, 2025, a 6.9-magnitude earthquake hit Cebu, followed by over 12,000 aftershocks.
The home I built for my mom and myself was severely damaged, forcing her to sleep in a tent for weeks before finding a small rental.
Then on November 4, 2025, Typhoon Tino struck — flooding the area and washing away nearly everything she had left.
My family’s clothes, phones, and appliances were all destroyed. Right now, I have her and my sister staying in a hotel while we prepare for another super typhoon making a landfall.

Why I’m Asking for Help
I’ve always believed I could handle anything on my own.
But rebuilding after two natural disasters — from across the ocean — is something I can’t do alone.
