Hello family, friends, and loved ones. My name is Eli Black and as you may or may not have learned by now my beautiful and extremely strong sister Desirae Black has been diagnosed with ALL (Acute lymphoblastic leukemia) earlier this week. It occurs when a bone marrow cell develops errors in its DNA. Essentially a type of cancer of the blood and bone marrow that affects white blood cells that greatly affect the immune system. While typically affecting children, it can rarely also affect adults. Now to update you on moving forward, today she started the very long process of an aggressive chemotherapy called Hyper CVAD. She will be receiving medicine inpatient at the hospital for 5-7days, then outpatient daily for about two weeks. This cycle will then again happen 7 more times for a total of 4 months! This will be an extremely difficult time for her and her fight. As she does have insurance and job protection, she also has a fairly high deductible. She is also a single mother who has two amazing twins that will be graduating high school this month and one heading to college out of state and the other starting college in state. With this GoFundMe and your support it will help with her high medical bills, loss of work for 4 months, and upkeep of her home that she will inevitably need help with. We all thank everyone so much for the recent well wishes and prior visitation, but at this point, any visitation is being limited to immediate family at the hospital due to her being immunocompromised. If this at any point changes, I will update you here. As I unfortunately will have to go back to my own family in Colorado, she will still have our incredible parents, Chuck and Rhonda, here to help her as much as they possibly can. Please help donate, but honestly, only if you can as we're also using this as a platform to update everyone on Des's status. Thank you very much, and please pray for her and her immensely courageous fight!
