On Thursday, January 2, 2025, the strength of our family chain and faith were tested. God has once again shown favor and blessings upon our family. Our son, brother, nephew, cousin, and friend was hospitalized at Nazareth Hospital due to his severe asthma and flu diagnosis. He is affectionately known as #4 (captain of the Northeast High School football team), captain of the Northeast High School wrestling team, DAE, or Shawn, but to us, he is De’Shawn.
De’Shawn had to be placed in a medically induced coma (sedated) and on a ventilator for three days in order to get his breathing under control. After that, he remained in the Intensive Care Unit for an additional two days for treatment. He was then moved to the Progressive Care Unit and later transferred to a regular room.
During his six days in the hospital, De’Shawn had many visitors, both family and friends, but it was his dedicated mother, Sherrie, who stayed by his side both day and night, never leaving the hospital once. She took time to care for her youngest son and continues to do so at home. Neither De’Shawn nor Sherrie is able to return to school or work. The family is asking for financial assistance with the unforeseen medical bills and expenses. Any amount will be appreciated. Thank you for your assistance in helping with our medical situation.
