My name is Deshaun Myles. I'm almost 24 years old and am currently pursuing a Master's degree at Alder's Graduate School of Education. For about a month now, I have been enrolled in an intensive, one-year program in the pursuit of also obtaining a teaching credential in English. As some of you know, I have been teaching capoeira and mentoring children & older youth for over 10 years and I'm excited to continue this work into the classroom. I’ve been teaching capoeira since I myself was a kid and this has deeply inspired me to create a positive impact for the youth.

My family and I are originally from Santa Cruz, CA and I recently moved to Oakland about two months ago. I would be dishonest if I said that my transition has been easy. I've been experiencing hardship with paying for my tuition and lately, things have been more stressful than I had hoped for. I am asking for support through funds to pay my tuition for fall semester as I start student teaching in the classroom. Any amount that you’re able to donate goes a long way.
