My name is De’Shamya, I’m a 25-year-old native of Minnesota, and I’m currently completing my Master’s degree in Environmental Public Health at Mississippi Valley State University. I’m so close to graduating May 9th.
I’m proud to say I will be a first-generation student to earn a Master’s degree, which makes this moment even more meaningful for me and my family.
Unfortunately, I unknowingly found out that my financial aid would not fully cover my tuition costs, leaving me with a remaining balance of $1,440 by May 1st. At this point, it’s up to me to cover the rest, and without paying it, I won’t be able to graduate.
With this financial burden, I will also be driving from Minnesota to Mississippi for commencement, doing everything I can to make it to this important milestone.
This journey has taken a lot of hard work, sacrifice, and determination. My passion for environmental and public health comes from my desire to make a real difference in communities, and this degree is a major step toward that purpose.
I’m asking for any support you can give—no amount is too small. Even sharing this message would mean so much to me.
Thank you for helping me reach the finish line and being part of my journey.
