On Oct 31st, after a biopsy confirmed concerns discovered in a routine screening, Deserae Wilson was diagnosed with breast cancer.

Before even having a chance to process the shock of receiving this diagnosis at the young age of 39, Des immediately had a calendar full of appointments to start meeting with the handful of different doctors that have become her care team. Des and her team of doctors have come to the conclusion that a double mastectomy is the best course of treatment. This process will begin in late January and will consist of multiple surgeries during the mastectomy and reconstruction process, and years of hormone blocking therapy. Along with any other treatment deemed necessary to give Des a long, healthy, Cancer-Free life!

Anyone who knows Deserae & her husband Tony, knows they are the most giving, loving and caring people around. They give endlessly to their family and friends and now is the time when they need a little help in return.

Des is a self-employed mother of two, who has always worked tirelessly to support her family. The cost of all these appointments, along with the financial burden of being unable to work for an extended period of time is a stress that no one should have to face while fighting cancer.

The goal of this fundraiser is to not only help the Wilson family pay for the down payment required for the multiple surgeries, but also to help offset some of the loss of income while Des is unable to work. Additionally, we want to ensure that Tony can be by her side during the first critical weeks of her recovery. This will only be possible with the generosity of others to help supplement the absence of their usual income during this time. Tony’s presence is crucial for her care, but taking time off from work means a significant loss of income for their family, which is where we can all make a difference!
