In 2021, shortly after becoming a newlywed Derrick embarked in a fight for his freedom as a result of his helpful and trusting nature. The legal battle has been financially exhausting for him and his family over the past two and a half years. Recently, his case experienced a minor setback which resulted in Derrick being separated from his family.
