Update: I have officially lost my job , I’m just lost … I will be homeless and my kids will be taken away from me … im just over life , this was a tough year and this was the icing on the cake . I didn’t have kids that depended on me , I would have been took my life

My name is Derrick, and I’m reaching out because I’m going through one of the toughest moments I’ve faced in a long time. I’m a single father raising two kids on my own, and everything I do is for them. I work as a Large Store Merchandiser for Coca-Cola United, a job I’m proud of and rely on to keep a roof over our heads and food on the table. My job requires me to use my personal vehicle every day to travel from store to store.

A few days ago, my world was shaken when I was involved in a hit-and-run accident. Another driver crashed into me and sped off, leaving me shaken and with a damaged car that I can’t drive. The police are still searching for the person responsible. I’m grateful that I wasn’t seriously hurt — my kids still have their dad — but the damage to my car has left me unable to work.

I get paid in two weeks, but I can’t wait that long for transportation. I’m trying to raise $500 to rent a car just for a week so I can keep working and provide for my kids. Missing work means losing pay, and losing pay means falling behind on bills that I simply can’t afford to fall behind on as a single parent.

This accident wasn’t my fault, but the impact is now on me and my children. Any help — even a small amount — would mean the world to us right now. It would give me the ability to keep my job, stay on my feet, and continue taking care of my kids while I wait for insurance and repairs.
