My brother Derrick has always been my best friend and a devoted family man. He’s the kind of person who shows up for anyone in need, and he loves spending time with his wife and their seven children. Derrick especially enjoys camping, cooking big meals for family gatherings, and making sure everyone feels welcome and cared for.
A few weeks ago, Derrick’s life changed suddenly. While at work, he felt chest pain and went to the doctor, thinking it was just a muscle strain. After an EKG, doctors found something much more serious. At just 43, Derrick had three major arteries completely blocked and needed emergency triple bypass open-heart surgery. The doctors said it was hereditary. Now, he’s recovering but unable to work for at least 3–4 months.
This would be hard for any family, but Derrick’s wife is also in remission from Stage 4 breast cancer. She fought through a double mastectomy, chemotherapy, radiation, and multiple surgeries, and was out of work for over a year. She only recently returned to work, and now Derrick is unable to provide for their family.
With seven children, the family is facing mounting expenses: medical bills, travel to the hospital, medications, follow-up appointments, mortgage, utilities, insurance, groceries, and more.
Please consider supporting Derrick and his family during this incredibly difficult time. Any contribution, no matter the size, will help them focus on healing and staying together as a family. Your kindness and generosity mean the world to us.
