Recently, Derrick received news that turned his world upside down: both of his kidneys have failed. He is now undergoing lifesaving dialysis and has been placed on the kidney transplant list, fighting every single day to survive… and to stay here with the people who love and need him most.

Derrick is Forrest City through and through. He was born and raised right here, and only left long enough to attend college. After earning his degree, he returned home — not to chase personal gain, but to give back to the community that shaped him. That’s just who Derrick Spearmon is: a man of heart, purpose, and unwavering service.

Derrick has worked in this community for over 18 years, serving individuals and families in need, and changing lives one job at a time. As an Employment Specialist at the local Workforce Center, Derrick has helped thousands of people find jobs, start new careers, and regain confidence in themselves. He didn’t just help people with resumes or interviews — he offered hope. He believed in people when no one else would.

But now, Derrick is the one in need, and I want to do everything I can to lift him up, just like he’s done for so many others.
