Support Derek's Fight for Life and Recovery

My heart aches as I write this, and I'm reaching out to you with a plea for our beloved family member, Derek Johnson. This past weekend, on March 23rd, our world shattered. Derek, a loving son, brother, uncle, cousin, and father, and the sole provider for his family, was involved in a horrific motorcycle accident.

He's currently battling for his life in the ICU at Holmes Regional Medical Center in Palm Bay, Florida. The list of his injuries is almost unbearable: six blood transfusions in the last 5 days, multiple surgeries, with the most recent one this morning, two broken hands braced with pins, a fractured foot, broken toes and fingers, devastating internal bleeding, a shattered pelvis, a right leg tragically separated from his spine, a bruised heart and lungs, a mural lesion (a separation of the dermis from the underlying fascia), and a ruptured bladder. He's now reliant on dialysis, and possibly an organ transplant.

Imagine the pain, the fear, the sheer fight for survival he's enduring. Doctors tell us he faces another six to eight weeks in the ICU, followed by months of grueling recovery at home.

This isn't just about physical healing. It's about a family facing the impossible. Derek's role as the sole breadwinner has been abruptly taken away, leaving them with mounting medical bills – bills that are not fully covered by insurance. They will need specialized at-home care, a hospital bed, and continuous support to navigate the long road ahead.

We're reaching out, our hearts heavy, asking for your help. Every dollar donated will go directly towards Derek's medical expenses, the essential care he needs to return home, and bills. It will help his family keep their heads above water during this devastating time.
