Help Support Derek, Jacklyn, Baby Genesis, and Their Children During a Medical Crisis

Life can change in an instant, and today we’re asking for help for a family that’s going through an incredibly difficult time.

Just 10 weeks ago, Derek and Jacklyn welcomed their beautiful baby girl, Genesis, into the world. She is the youngest of their six children — a sweet addition to a loving, hardworking family. But instead of being able to enjoy this special time together, they’ve been faced with a medical emergency that’s turned their lives upside down.

Last week, Derek was hospitalized with a severe case of diverticulitis that escalated into sepsis — a life-threatening condition. After aggressive antibiotics and a plan for surgery, Derek was released, and for a moment, things looked like they were turning around.

But last night, everything changed again. Derek was readmitted to Kaiser in Modesto after tests revealed his infection had worsened. His white blood cell count had climbed even higher, and his CT scan showed the infection is spreading. He’s now facing a serious health battle, and the need for surgery may be sooner than expected.

With Derek unable to work, Jacklyn is doing everything she can — caring for their six children, including newborn Genesis, managing their household, and carrying the financial burden alone. She’s trying to be strong for everyone, but no one should have to walk through something like this without support.
