Derek Scott is not just my co-worker—he’s an incredible asset to our construction team and a true friend. As his foreman, I’ve seen firsthand the dedication, strength, and positivity he brings to every job, even in the face of adversity. Right now, Derek is facing the toughest battle of his life. He’s been fighting stage 4 kidney cancer with remarkable courage, and just recently, he was diagnosed with brain cancer. On January 15th, Derek underwent surgery to remove a brain tumor, and his journey is far from over.
Derek is currently undergoing medical evaluations at the James Cancer Center in Columbus, Ohio. Once those are complete, he’ll move into rehab for strength and conditioning. Over the next six weeks, Derek will need to travel every two weeks for a specialized radiation stem procedure, which involves reopening his incision each time—a painful and exhausting process that will happen three times. Each trip requires a 2.5-hour commute each way, adding to the physical and emotional toll. Despite all of this, Derek continues to fight, showing the same determination that makes him such a valued member of our team.
We’re asking for your help to support Derek through this incredibly difficult time. All funds raised will go directly toward his medical bills, travel expenses, and living costs as he focuses on his treatment and recovery. Any support is greatly appreciated—whether it’s a donation, a share, or a prayer. Derek is a fighter with so much life left to live, and with your help, we can make sure he has the support he needs to keep going.
