Derek Harrison has recently been involved in a motorcycle crash. He broke 4 bones: 2 across his forearm, one of his ribs, and his scapula, along with a fracture in his shoulder and a dislocated collarbone.

I was at work when I received a call from an EMT who told me my brother was in a motorcycle accident, and he was being taken to the hospital. I contacted close family as my mom and I rushed from work to the ER. He was there for 6 long hours before being transferred to a hospital better equipped to treat this severe of an injury. He spent another painful 6 hours in their ER before being brought up to the pediatric unit where he waited almost 12 hours to be brought to surgery to treat his shattered elbow. It has been very difficult for all of us to see him in such excruciating pain. We are all anxiously waiting for his surgery to finish. The surgery will include putting plates, screws, and wires in his arm, along with attending to his other broken bones.

Derek is one of the most kind and thoughtful humans I have ever met. While lying on the grass with his arm bent backwards, he was trying to refuse an ambulance because he was worried about the cost. After screaming in pain, he was most worried about his girlfriend and kept apologizing for making her cry. He is a very hardworking man who works 40-60 hours a week while still making time for friends and family.

He has a long, painful, and expensive recovery ahead of him. He will be unable to work during this time. We would appreciate any help at all during this very scary time.
