Derek and Ellee Mammenga, along with their young children - just three and one - need our support as they face an incredibly tough time. In August, Derek started experiencing severe headaches and double vision. After several doctor visits and emergency room trips, Derek was diagnosed with a brain tumor. He has since undergone brain surgery, both for a biopsy and to drain spinal fluid. Heartbreakingly, the biopsy confirmed that the tumor is cancerous and is stage three or four.

The past few months have been a whirlwind for this family, with Derek unable to work and Ellee frequently needing time off work to support Derek's care and attend his many doctor appointments. Derek has now begun chemotherapy to shrink the tumor, but if it doesn't respond quickly enough, he may need additional brain surgery to place a shunt. These are intense days for Derek, Ellee and their kids and the road ahead remains uncertain.

With their focus on Derek's health and their children's well-being, we can lift some of their financial burden. Our support will allow them to concentrate on what truly matters - time together and Derek's recovery.

Ellee and Derek are two of the most kindhearted, inspiring people you could meet, and it's painful to see them going through this when they should be enjoying family life with their little ones.
