On Saturday, August 1, our friend Derek Coghlan was involved in a serious e-bike accident. He is currently in the ICU, where he is stable and showing encouraging signs of progress. He has had periods of alertness, but his body and mind need plenty of rest and time to heal.

Many of you know Derek and his wife, Julie and their two sons, Jack and Finn. This has been an incredibly difficult and uncertain time for their entire family, and we want to surround them with as much love and support as possible.

Many people have reached out to ask about visiting Derek. While we know how much everyone wants to see and support him, his doctors are recommending that he not have visitors at this time. Please do not go to the hospital—Derek simply isn’t ready for visitors yet. We will let everyone know when that changes.

So many friends have also asked how they can help. I created this GoFundMe to help Derek, Julie, Jack, and Finn with the unexpected medical expenses and other costs associated with Derek’s recovery. Any contribution, no matter the amount, will help ease some of the financial burden so the family can focus on Derek’s healing.

If you aren’t able to contribute, sharing this fundraiser and keeping Derek and his family in your thoughts and prayers would mean a great deal.
