My name is Derek Boone. I'm the senior patrol leader in Troop 494 in Amherst, and I live in Oberlin. I partnered with Tranquil Acres Farm for my Eagle Scout Project. Tranquil Acres is primarily a horse rescue that works with animals that have been neglected and/or abused. They also contribute to several charities.

My project is to install swing-out doors with attached insulated water buckets in all the stalls of one of their horse barns. This is to make it safer for the volunteers to replace the horse’s water without having to enter the stall. It will also eliminate the fire hazard of a heated water bucket.
