I'm writing this on behalf of my brother Dereje Mamo, a beloved and cherished member of the Ethiopian community in Los Angeles who has worked as a mechanic in the area for over 30 years.

Dereje spent many years working for Toyota and has been a familiar and trusted face to many. He is a hard worker and someone you can always count on. During tough times, he has been someone family and friends can trust and lean on for support.

Over the past few years, Dereje has been facing serious health issues that sometimes kept him from working. Then on January 19, 2026 he suffered a stroke that affected his movement and speech. This has been overwhelming for him and for all of us who love him.

All Dereje wants right now is to recover and return to work, but his doctors say that won't be possible anytime soon. As he begins the long process of applying for disability benefits, he is also dealing with a lot of financial stress. Because of earlier health-related breaks from work, he does not qualify for some of the benefits he may have otherwise received, which has added even more pressure during this difficult time.

Dereje needs a lot of therapy, rest, and time to truly recover. We are asking for your support so he can focus on healing without constantly worrying about expenses until his SSI kicks through. ደረጀ ማሞ በሎሳ ጀለሰ ከተማ በአትዮጵያ ማህበረሰብ ውሰጥ ለአለፉት ሰላሳ አመታት በቶዮታ ካንፓኒ በጥሩ ትህትናና በታማኝነት ሲያገለግል መቆየቱን ሁላችሁም ታውቁታላችሁ::

ደረጀ ሥራውን በትጋት ከመሥራቱም በላይ በባህሪው እጅግ በጣም የተመሰገነና አመኔታ ያለው ፣ ደግ እና ለቤተሰቡ ፈጥኖ ደራሻችን ነው:: ነገር ግን ከጥቂት ዓመታት ጀምሮ የጤና መታወክ ገጥሞት ሥራውን በሚገባ መሰራት አልቻለም:: ከዛም በJanuary 19, 2026 ስትሮክ መቶት በሰውነት እንቅስቃሴው እና ልሳኑ ላይ ጉዳት ስለገጠመው ሥራውን ሙሉ በሙሉ አቋርጦ ቤት ይገኛል ::

ዶክተሩ ሥራ መሰራት አለመቻሉን በጻፈለት መሰረት የdisability ማመልከቻ ለማስገባት ብንሞክርም ሂደቱ በጣም ጊዜ እየወሰደ ተቸግረናል :: ከደረሰበት የጤና ችግር በላይ እሱን እያሰጨነቀው ያለው ደግሞ የቤት ኪራይ ፣ የተለያዩ የሀክምና እና የእለተ ከእለት ወጪዎች ናቸው:: ከዚህ ቀደም ባጋጠመው የጤና ችግር የሥራ ሰዓቱ ላይ መቆራረጥ ስለነበረም ከመስራቤቱ ያገኘው የነበረው benefit ማግኘት አልቻለም። ይህም እሱን ከህመሙ በላይ እየጎዳው እና ወደ depression እየወሰደው ነው::

እኛ ቤተሰቡ በታላቅ አክብሮት የምንጠይቃችሁ የdisability ክፍያ አሰኪጀመርልት እና ጤናው ላይ ሙሉ ትኩረቱን እንዲያደርግ ፣ አቅማችሁ በፈቀደው መጠን አጠገቡ እንድትቆሙለትና ይህንን የእረዳታ ጥሪ ላልሰሙ ኢትዮጵያውያን እና ኤርትራዊያን ወገኖች ሼር በማድረግ እንድታሰሙልን በልዑል እግዚአብሄር ሥም እጠይቀለሁ::
