Hello, my name is Dequicha. I have been battling congestive heart failure since 2017. What I first believed was just a simple cold turned out to be something much more serious—heart failure.

Today, my heart is functioning at only 5% Stage D heart disease, and there is little to no more progression possible without a new heart. Since December 2024, I have been in heart transplant evaluation at the Mayo Clinic in Florida in hopes to gain a new heart.

When the call comes, I will need to relocate to Florida for 3–6 months for the transplant and recovery process. While insurance covers much of the medical care, there are many personal and living expenses, transportation, and other costs—that I must take care of during this time.

There have been days where I felt like giving up, but through faith and determination, I am still here—standing strong and awaiting my new heart.
