Deputy Kaelee McGraw has proudly served the Monroe County community for nearly four years. At just 26 years old, Kaelee chose to make Marathon, Florida her home after the passing of her father, dedicating her life to protecting and serving the community she loves. On June 10, 2026, while assisting in the apprehension of a fleeing suspect during a high-speed pursuit on U.S. 1, Kaelee suffered a devastating injury while deploying stop sticks in an effort to protect the public and bring the dangerous situation to a safe conclusion. As a result of her injuries, she sustained permanent damage to her hand.

What speaks volumes about Kaelee’s character is that after being injured, she remained committed to the mission and continued assisting in the pursuit until the severity of her injuries made it impossible to continue. Only then did she seek emergency medical treatment. In addition to this life-changing injury, Kaelee also manages Type 1 diabetes, which can make recovery even more challenging. At this time, it is unknown how long she will be unable to work as she focuses on healing and adapting to the challenges ahead.
