On March 23rd, my dad, Deputy Joe Pentlicki, was seriously injured while responding to a crash in Otero County involving four teenagers.
When he arrived on scene, he didn’t hesitate to help. While making his way down a steep canal embankment to reach the injured teens, he lost his footing and fell nearly 40 feet, fracturing his pelvis.
Even after that fall, in pain and injured, he repeatedly told EMS to treat the children before him.
That’s who he is.
A father, a deputy, and someone who always puts others first.
He has since undergone surgery and is now home beginning the long road to recovery. While we are incredibly grateful he is stable and healing, his injuries will keep him out of work for an extended period of time, and we don’t yet know when he will be able to return.
While his medical care is being covered, the time away from work and everyday expenses during recovery are where we need the most support.
We are asking for support to help cover:
• Monthly living expenses while he is unable to work
• Household bills and day-to-day needs during recovery
• Supporting him through an extended period away from work
If you know my dad, you know he would never ask for help himself….but he has spent his life showing up for others. Now it’s our turn to show up for him.
Watching someone so strong be forced to slow down has been one of the hardest parts, but we are hopeful and taking things one day at a time.
Any amount, no matter how small, means more than we can express. And if you’re unable to give, sharing this page and keeping him in your thoughts and prayers means just as much.
Thank you for supporting our family during this time.
