Our beloved Deonne, a cherished daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece and cousin, has been diagnosed with an incredibly rare form of cancer- extra-skeletal osteosarcoma. Sarcomas account for 1% of all cancers. Deonne’s cancer is 1% of that 1%. This recent diagnosis has impacted Deonne in a way that is incomprehensible to most.

In the coming weeks, Deonne will embark on a daunting journey of treatment, starting with the implantation of a life port followed by extremely aggressive chemotherapy. Her brave spirit will guide her though this challenging process, but she cannot face it alone.

After the initial rounds of chemotherapy, Deonne will undergo reconstructive arm surgery, a procedure that involves intimate skin grafting and possible muscle involvement. The road to recovery will be long and arduous, spanning several weeks before resuming her battle with chemotherapy for a total of 9-12 months.

Adding to the burden are the financial strains that accompany medical treatment. Deonne, who started a new job just before her diagnosis, lacks the safety net of vacation, PTO, sick pay, and even job security. With a hefty $7,000 deductible every year and ongoing bills to manage, the weight on her shoulders is immense.

From covering routine expenses to providing the little luxuries that bring her comfort, like treating herself to a manicure or investing in a quality wig for when she loses her hair.
