Support Denton's Fight Against Stage 4 Cancer

Donation protected
Hello Friends,

This is very vulnerable and uncomfortable; however, we have been encouraged to start a fresh campaign with more specifics.

As most of you know, on October 6, 2023, Denton was diagnosed with Stage 4 Left-Sided, Inoperable Colon Cancer with Metastasis to his liver and both lungs. They told us without treatment he had less than 6 months, and with treatment, they would do everything they could to buy him 2-3 years. WELL, FIRST OF ALL, we are praying and believing for FULL healing and restoration in his body. We are believing for a MIRACLE from the God of Creation who still does miracles like we see all through the scriptures. He is the same God. We believe this fully. Medically, Denton has been labeled as "Terminal." He had to stop working immediately, and I quickly became a caretaker. He has officially exhausted all Tier 1 treatment options and, by the grace of God, has just gotten into a clinical trial. We are trying to keep our eyes focused on the Lord and make all the memories we can in the meantime.

With him unable to work and my own hours reduced to care for him, we’re struggling just to cover basic living expenses—rent, utilities, groceries, and the costs that come with managing his care. The Lord has used His people to be the hands and feet of Jesus in our lives over these last 18 months. That has come in all different forms. As of June, the funding that we have been receiving to help with covering part of rent and utilities runs out. I got a part-time job to try to help my family as much as I could around appointments. They called us 2 weeks ago to update our coverage after taking this very part-time job. They took over $500 off of our food stamps and added over $600 to our monthly Medicaid deductible. Disheartening to say the least. I am continuing to look for ways to make money for our family while still covering MULTIPLE appointments basically every week. This new clinical trial is 4 hours away. We go for 1-3 days at a time depending on what they need to do. Yes, they are covering our hotel (Praise God), but this has been another added expense.

Personally, we have dragged our feet with starting this campaign because we know that everyone is struggling right now. We have people who continue to bless us when they can financially through Venmo; however, we found that some wanted to do it anonymously (which they can't do through Venmo). Hence this campaign.

This fundraiser is simply about survival: staying in our home, keeping the lights on, and making sure that Denton has what he needs. Every donation helps lift a piece of the weight we're carrying—and gives us space to focus on love and time, rather than fear and bills. We have cut out all unnecessary spending (yes, even coffee), and we are tracking EVERYTHING through a money app so we know exactly where every dollar is going! We know that our God is Jehovah Jireh (the God who Provides), but we have been transparent through this entire journey, and the need for financial assistance is great. We long for the day where WE are the ones that can turn around and do this for someone else. I never realized what a lack there was in our system for people needing assistance. Well, we understand now!

Thank you for reading, for caring, and for any help you can offer—whether it’s a donation or a share, or most importantly, PRAYERS.

With gratitude,
Denton & Jessie
