Our dad was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis, a serious and progressive lung disease. This disease causes scarring of the lungs, making it increasingly difficult to breathe because the lungs become stiff and can no longer deliver enough oxygen to the body. There is no cure, and as the disease progresses, a lung transplant becomes the only option for survival.
After several long months filled with testing, appointments, and waiting, the Cleveland Clinic placed him on the transplant list for a single lung on January 13, 2026. Just two days later, on the night of January 15, 2026, he received the call to come to the hospital immediately, as there was a lung available for him.
While we are incredibly grateful for this life saving opportunity, the road ahead is long and challenging. Lung transplant recovery can take several months. In the early stages, he must remain close to the hospital for frequent follow-up appointments, monitoring, and rehabilitation. During this time, he will also require around-the-clock care, which means family members will need to temporarily relocate to Cleveland to support him through his recovery.
Anyone who knows our dad knows how special he is. He is a loving husband, proud father to his three daughters, and overjoyed in his new role as a grandpa to his 6-week-old grandson. He enjoys spending time with family and friends, watching sports, and being active. He is the kind of person who shows up for everyone, remembers every detail, and is full of love and jokes.
Right now, we are asking for help to ease the financial burden so our family can focus on supporting him during his recovery. The funds raised will go toward transplant-related expenses, travel, temporary housing in Cleveland, and medication costs following the transplant.
Every donation, prayer, share, and message of encouragement means more than words can express. Thank you for taking the time to read our story and for helping to support our family during this difficult time. We are so grateful for the love surrounding us and hopeful for the road ahead.
