Hello,

My name is Brandie and I am creating this fundraiser for my stepfather who has been recently diagnosed with Stage 3 colon cancer.

Dennis is a big teddy bear who is always wanting to help his wife, kids, grandkids, family, and friends with whatever they need. He loves to work on cars and engines and helping his children with projects.

He was in the Air Force reserves and is having a hard time getting the VA to give benefits.

He got a part of his colon removed and 2 days after he was rushed to the emergency room for surgery due to blowing his stitches from coughing.

He is currently unable to work while he goes through chemo and has no insurance or short-term disability. He not only has lost his income but now has to deal with the financial struggle of medical bills piling up as well as figuring out how to afford his mortgage and everyday living expenses. He has been trying to sell what he can to pay for things.

He has received a port in his chest and receives the chemo treatment for 3 days and then gets a break to get his strength back up before the next round of chemotherapy. The treatment makes him exhausted, and he is unable to get out of bed for a few days due to feeling weak. The doctors have shared that he will be receiving chemotherapy for a minimum of 6 months.
